TOM KURUVILLA - EAR, NOSE, AND THROAT - FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY
I am a New Zealand trained surgeon specialised in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck surgery. My private practice is situated at our brand new, purpose built rooms at Specialists at NINE, Edgeware, Christchurch. I offer a high standard of patient care in a caring and friendly environment.

Some of my interests include:

  • Advanced endoscopic sinus surgery including Modified Endoscopic Lothrop surgery
  • Balloon sinuplasty under general or local anaesthesia in the rooms
  • Facial plastic surgery including rhinoplasty, otoplasty and skin cancers or benign lesions/moles
  • Coblation assisted surgery for Tonsillectomy and Snoring Surgery
  • State of the art treatment of Otitis Media/Glue Ear, Tonsillitis and problem runny or blocked noses.
  • Pillar Implant and radio frequency treatment to the tongue base for the control or snoring and sleep apnoea.

Prior to beginning ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat training) I have worked in:

  • General practice in Perth, Western Australia
  • Plastic surgery at Middlemore Hospital
  • Paediatric surgery at The Starship Hospital
  • General and trauma surgery at Auckland Hospital
This gave me a broad and useful skill base to take into my advanced training in ENT, first in Dunedin and finally Christchurch. After obtaining my fellowship, I worked as a Consultant Surgeon at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary in Scotland, developing my subspecialty interests.

  • Modified uvulopalatopharyngoplasty with radio frequency treatment to the tongue base for the control or snoring and sleep apnoea.

My private practice is situated at our brand new, purpose-built rooms at Level 2, Forte 2, 132 Peterborough St Christchurch. We have onsite Audiology services, CT Scanning, Ultrasound and MRI scanning.

      • Parking is available on site.

      Dependent on the insurance company, we can electronically apply for your surgery pre-approval and most consultations and follow up visits.

      If cone beam CT scanning of your sinuses is needed prior to your appointment, we can pre-approve (also dependent on which insurance company) and organise this for the day of your consultation. Contact us to discuss whether you meet the criteria to consider imaging studies beforehand as this can make the way we diagnose and treat you more efficient.
